Our vision for Greater Manchester is a place where everyone can live a good life, by creating a culture of prevention and reducing structural inequalities.

Our mission is to empower, equip and connect Greater Manchester leaders, practitioners and communities to work together in new ways to make good lives for all possible.

We are delighted to share that the Live Well Leadership Collaborative programme starts in January 2026, running through to June. This fourth cohort of leaders from across the voluntary and public sector will be supported through coaching, online workshops and peer support to tackle and overcome barriers and help create a culture of prevention across GM.

The Mayor’s three big ideas: Housing First, Live Well, and MBacc will help bring this vision to life.

Pulling off these reforms will require fundamentally new ways of working:

Leadership that reaches across places
Equal working partnerships between voluntary and statutory service
Cross-sector, multi-disciplinary teams
Trust in communities, and their leadership of change

These are not new aspirations. These ways of working exist in pockets in GM – but they are not yet the norm.

Realising the Mayor’s vision for GM will require these ways of working as standard. We must focus on how change happens, not just what.

GoodLives GM has successfully tested how to build these ways of working with 1000 GM changemakers over the past two years. Impact on those taking part has been transformative.

The moment to do this is now. Strong local and national mandates for change are lined up. An optimistic workforce is looking to the future. A successful model is ready to grow. Let’s go.
